Human health is one of the greatest blessings granted by God to mankind. It forms the foundation upon which a person’s ability to work, give, and live a normal life depends. Islam has given significant attention to the health of the human body, and both the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah contain many references and teachings that encourage caring for the body and maintaining its balance and well-being. With the advancement of modern medical sciences, it has become clear that many of these teachings intersect with scientific concepts related to the functions of the human body and its systems, including the importance of internal balance and the role of the soft tissue area in maintaining this balance.
The Holy Qur’an is not only a book of spiritual guidance but also a comprehensive way of life that includes general principles contributing to the preservation of human physical and psychological health. The Qur’an refers to the concept of healing and guidance in the verse:
“O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.”
This verse suggests that divine guidance carries within it meanings of healing, reassurance, and balance, which are reflected in both psychological and physical human health. Throughout history, scholars have derived many health-related principles from Qur’anic texts, such as moderation in eating and drinking, maintaining cleanliness and purity, and avoiding anything that harms the body.
The noble Sunnah complements the teachings of the Qur’an and includes many guidelines related to health and disease prevention. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged seeking treatment and not neglecting medical care when he said:
“Seek treatment, O servants of Allah, for Allah has not created a disease without creating its cure.”
Scholars have referred to what is known as Prophetic medicine, which includes the collection of teachings and guidance reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding health, prevention, and treatment. This approach emphasizes prevention before treatment and promotes balance in human life.
The Prophet’s guidance also included several healthy practices such as cleanliness and ablution, moderation in food and drink, and certain therapeutic practices such as cupping therapy. Modern studies have shown that these practices have multiple health benefits, including stimulating blood circulation and improving various bodily functions.
The soft tissue area is one of the important regions of the human body. It is located in the abdominal cavity between the chest and the pelvis and includes several vital organs such as the stomach, intestines, and other parts of the digestive system. It is called the soft tissue area because it lacks hard bones and consists mainly of soft tissues, muscles, and internal organs.
This area plays a significant role in many vital processes within the body. It is directly connected to digestion, nutrient absorption, and the conversion of food into energy required for various bodily functions. It is also linked to the nervous and immune systems, making it an essential component in maintaining the body’s internal balance.
Scientific studies indicate that the human body consists largely of water, which makes up approximately 75% of its composition. Water is an essential element for cellular life, as it provides the medium in which the biochemical reactions necessary for life take place.
Body tissues are composed of millions of cells that work harmoniously and integratively to maintain the body’s functions. These cells are surrounded by delicate membranes that regulate the entry of nutrients and oxygen and the removal of metabolic waste products. Cells also depend on the balance of fluids and minerals to maintain their biological activity.
Any imbalance in the body’s internal environment may lead to disturbances in the functions of various organs, which ultimately affects overall human health. Therefore, modern medicine emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle that includes proper nutrition, physical activity, sufficient sleep, and avoiding harmful practices.
In this context, attention to the soft tissue area emerges as particularly important, as it is associated with many vital functions in the body. Maintaining the health of this area can help improve digestion and support the body’s internal balance.
Reflecting on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah reveals a comprehensive vision of human health, one that emphasizes balance between body, mind, and spirit. Modern science has shown that many of these teachings align with contemporary health principles that stress prevention and proper care of the body.
Thus, understanding the nature of the human body and its functions—and paying attention to vital areas such as the soft tissue region—is essential for preserving human health and maintaining physical and psychological balance, contributing to a healthy and balanced life grounded in both knowledge and sound guidance.
