In Irbid… Where Stories Begin with Pain and End with a New Beginning

“Al-Buqai World” and Open Spaces of Hope for Patients Exhausted by Their Journey

Pain was not the only burden carried by these patients; it was also the long journey of searching for explanations before searching for treatment. Years of moving between hospitals, endless examinations, and incomplete answers left many trapped between diagnosis and uncertainty… until coincidence — or perhaps a final spark of hope — led them to a different place in the city of Irbid.

Inside “Al-Buqai World for Holistic Therapy,” stories are not told through numbers, but through the voices of those who lived them. Here, every patient has a story, and every story often begins with prolonged suffering and ends — or perhaps begins anew — with an attempt to reclaim life.

Leading this experience is Engineer Dr. Mohammad Khaled Al-Buqai, who presents an approach known as “Body Engineering,” a rehabilitation method that views the body as an integrated whole, where pain is not separated from its deeper causes, and symptoms are not addressed without searching for their roots.

This approach did not emerge in isolation. Dr. Al-Buqai has received official and scientific recognition at both local and Arab levels. He was awarded the King Abdullah II Award for Freelance Work and Entrepreneurship in recognition of his efforts in innovation and professional achievement. He was also selected as a visiting professor at Cairo University, in addition to receiving numerous honors and achievements in the fields of physical rehabilitation and humanitarian work.

Al-Buqai says, “A patient does not come carrying only an illness, but an entire story of suffering, and that requires genuine listening before any therapeutic intervention.” He explains that many of the cases arriving at the center have already lost hope after long treatment journeys.

Journeys from Despair… to Different Beginnings

Among these stories is the case of Saudi patient Saeed Al-Menhali, who carried years of suffering from severe joint problems, muscular weakness, and neurological spasms that restricted his movement.
He traveled across several countries searching for treatment, yet returned each time with the same answer: “There is no clear solution.”

He says:

“I was not searching for a miracle… I was only searching for a chance.”

After months of beginning a rehabilitation program based on “Body Engineering,” he started noticing gradual improvements in his mobility and a reduction in spasms — restoring a feeling he had long lost: hope.

In another corner of the center stands the story of little Bissan, who arrived unable to move her arm due to a shoulder dislocation. Previous medical attempts had failed to help her, but a direct therapeutic intervention restored her movement within moments, in a scene that condensed much of the anxiety her family had endured.

As for Dr. Mohammad Al-Zenati, he came to the center after a traffic accident left him suffering from severe back pain and difficulty moving for weeks without noticeable improvement. He says the real change was not only physical, but emotional as well — the feeling that he was no longer facing pain alone after regaining his natural movement.

There are also stories that span years, such as the experience of young Basel Atir, who suffered a severe leg injury that nearly ended his ability to walk. Today, Basel returns not as a patient, but as a witness to a long journey that ended with his return to normal life and the ability to practice sports again — a transformation reflecting the scale of change he experienced.

Between Pain and Being Heard

What unites these stories is not the diagnosis, but a shared feeling: the search for someone who truly listens.

Many patients speak not only about physical improvement, but also about a difference in the way they were treated — about a humane space where they felt seen and understood.

Here, treatment does not appear separate from care; rather, it becomes part of it. Listening becomes the beginning of the journey, careful follow-up its continuation, and patience an element no less important than any therapeutic technique.

Hope… as Part of the Treatment

Over the years, the center has dealt with hundreds of cases from Jordan and across the Arab world, all intersecting at one point: the attempt to restore what illness had taken away, even gradually.

At a time when the need for developing rehabilitation methods continues to grow, such experiences emerge as spaces worthy of attention — not only from the perspective of hope, but also from the need for scientific documentation and medical evaluation to ensure the continuity of what succeeds and the improvement of what may succeed further.

In the end, not every story is the same, but what unites them is that moment when a patient moves from a question without an answer… to a first step on the road to recovery.
